Free Invoice Generator

Build a professional invoice in your browser and download it as a PDF. No sign-up, no watermark, and nothing you type is uploaded.

  • Runs in your browser
  • Nothing uploaded
  • No sign-up

Fill in the fields on the left and the invoice builds itself on the right. When it looks right, download it as a PDF or print it. There is no account to create and no watermark on the result.

What makes this different

Most free invoice tools ask you to register, then stamp their logo on the document or cap you at three invoices a month. This one runs entirely in your browser: the PDF is assembled on your own device, so there is no upload, no server copy, and no limit.

That also means your client list and your rates never touch our servers. The only thing saved is a draft in your own browser, so a refresh does not cost you a half-typed invoice.

What to put on an invoice

A payable invoice needs six things: who it is from, who it is to, a unique invoice number, the date, an itemised list of what is being charged, and the total. Anything else is optional.

The invoice number matters more than people expect. Sequential numbers make your own bookkeeping straightforward and are usually required if you are registered for VAT or sales tax. Pick a format like 2026-001 and never reuse one.

Payment terms belong in the notes field. “Payable within 14 days” is clearer than leaving it unsaid, and it gives you something concrete to point at when following up.

Tax and discounts

The discount is applied to the subtotal first, then tax is calculated on what remains. That is the standard order in most jurisdictions, and it is the one your accounting software will assume.

The tax label is editable because it is not called the same thing everywhere: VAT in the UK and EU, GST in Australia, India, Canada and New Zealand, and sales tax in the US. Set the label your clients expect to see.

How this is worked out

Totals are worked out in the order your accounting software expects: the discount comes off the subtotal first, then tax is applied to what remains. So a $1,000 subtotal with a 10% discount and 20% VAT gives $900 net, $180 VAT, and $1,080 payable — not $1,020.

Common questions

Is it really free?

Yes. No watermark, no cap on how many you create, and no account.

Where is my data stored?

Only in your own browser, as a draft, so a refresh does not lose your work. It is never sent to us. Clearing your browser data removes it.

Can I add my logo?

Not yet. Logo upload is the next thing planned for this tool.

Is this a legally valid invoice?

The format is standard and widely accepted. Requirements vary by country though, so if you are registered for VAT or GST, check what your tax authority requires on the face of an invoice.

Can I edit it after downloading?

The PDF is final, but your draft stays in the browser. Change a field and download again.
